s/shine on sunday

We were up early to go and collect the twins from Sarah,s.
Its quite a long way there, about 45mins and more if the traffic is heavy.They live the other side of Brisbane, very near Lone Pine.
So we arrive and Sarah had gone out, but Jason of course was there. We just got the boys to get their shoes on and we were off.
This is skittles,and she loved a cuddle from auntie Lynn.

Of we went to Fig Tree Pocket road. We had a lovely morning with the animals ,the twins loved it.
Of course the highlight is always the Kangaroos and the Koalas.But there were lots of othere things to keep them happy too.
Like the chickens, Jarvis has got the knack of picking them up so i thought i would give it a  go

It was a nice morning.

The boys go for a sleep about 12 so we made our way back to  Sarahs.and said our goodbyes. We then headed of to Joe,s place..

We had all bee invited to Lunch,when we got there Lou and Diana were there and Joan and Peter so we managed to get to see them all again from Johns party which was nice.

The meal was spatchcock and veg.and pretty good it was too,then fresh fruit,blueberry,strawberrys etc.

and a lurvely choc. cake.

There were tons of red wine to wash it down with. They live in a big farm house, and they are still renovating it. It was a lovely afternoon.

We left about 5 and on our way back to Johns we stopped at Mt Coota lookout, which overlooks the city of Brisbane.

I think we were all pretty tired after the Lone Pine and then an afternoo eating and drinking.But somehow we managed to eat a pizza later on before bed.!

Sunshine on Sat

After a long and leisurely breakfast outside in the shade we all had to say our goodbyes. Jenny and Paul left, and after we had packed s few things, we headed back to Brisbane.
We called in on a baby shop on the way, i could have spent time there but the boys were twitchy.
By the time we got to Johns place, Chris was there.
The plan is to go into Brisbane by the city cat have some dinner and come back the sme way.
It had changed so much from when I was last there.It was buzzing.
People in the cty beach water, just sitting around ,eating, drinking .such a lovely atmosphere..It was about 5pm when we got there.
Anyway we had dinner, and it wasent the best.
Then walked all the way through the city back to the city cat. called in at the Pig and Whistle for  alast drink, before we got on the Cat.

What a beautifull city it is.......

sunshine on friday

After yesterday, we thought we would give the beach another try !

We went down about 10.30 John took us this time and when we were ready we rang him and he came to pick us up.
It was a beautifull day this time. so we made camp slapped on some cream, we took a walk round to the rocka to watch tha surfers.It also kept us out of ths sun a while.
We had a  from a walk the full lenght of ths bay, got dumped dumped by big waves in the sea ,they dont look so big from the edge,and are not too far out.
They are so powerfull,when you look at the rolling up close behind you its scary.
I guess we had a couple of hours on the beach, we then went to the surf club for some lunch.Lee had battered flatheads ?
and diamond chips.Fish and chips to you and I .
I had an Asian salad.
By the time we had finished our lunch it was 2pm. so we rang John and he came to collect us.
Jennt and Paul were already there. They are some friends of Johns who stayed with us back in 88. and than when we went to Sydney in 96 we stayed with them.
It was good to see them again. John cooked a good meal again, for all of us. We had champagne and plenty wine.
And a good old chat.

sunshine on a thursday

Today, John asked if  we want to go to a shopping centre at Maloolaba and then go to see another dive centre. he shouldn't have had to ask Hey.
Anyway off we go to the dive centre first and they were more accommodating even though the story was the same, I have to ring on Monday to see what the state of play is.But i felt a little more hopeful.
We then headed of to the shopping centre.It is a new one apparently, and nice it is too.All the usual shops but nice to look around. Lee got his phone sorted, even they didn't find it easy.
Thing is We got a PAYGO sim to put into johns old phone just as an emergency,BUT NONE OF US COULD GET IT ACTIVATED.

When we got back to Johns,Lee an I took Johns car and went into Noosa to go on the beach. It was sunny at the time ,but as soon as we sat down the dark clouds came and we didn't really got any sun after that. It was about 5pm so we gave up and went home.
We went into the sea for a while jumped a few waves. We even sat on the beach in the rain !

It looked pretty cloudy so we decided to out for the day.John didn't come just Lee and I
So we went to Australia Zoo, and Lee drove there. How cool is that!
The rain kept away apart from as we got there,  we sat in the car for a few moments as a heavy shower passed.
It is a lovely zoo,if you can say zoo,s are lovely!
It was well organised clean and set up for lots of people, so you ever felt crowded.Only when we went to the shows did you see how many people were there.
The biggest shoe was the birds and then the crocs show.In a big auditorium,you could just see Steve Irwin .....
the food hall was massive and really well organised.
We wandered around , there was a show with some tigers(,apparently the Africa,n area is new) of course they were lovely. You could queue to feed the elephants, they were sweet.

But my favourites are the kangaroo,s and Koalas. you could have your photo taken with one, that is something i had already done. As we came to the end of the walk we went though where the Roos were,and they were lovely.From there it led you to Koalas, and there you could get up close to them take as many photos and touch them.
We then started to make our way back, Lee did a good job with the help of Johns sat. nav

It had been a goood day ,even Lee enjoyed it !

Sunshine Beach Tuesday

My birthday :)

Got 3 cards and a present from Chris.She bought me some Crabtree and Eveline smellies.Very nice.
John drove us to Montville, a place we had been years ago.Its is a beautiful place with panoramic views.
Lots of lovely craft type shops. Could have spent a long time there, but we were on a mission.The drive all around that region was really pretty.

On the way there we called into a chesese factory, then called and had coffee and  cake.

On the way back we went to Maloolaba to find the dive shop. We still didnt have any luck there as the story was the same,no diving because of too bigger swell.worth atry anyway.
So back home it was .

Sunshine Beach Monday

Today was Lee,s first golf day he is playing Tewantin, my dive was not on again so John  took Lee to the golf  and then dropped me off at Noosa.

I planned to look around the shops and spend some time on the beach.
The beach was pretty busy,mostly families. A lot of people in the sea, like an idiot, i didn't take my cozzi, so just had to paddle.It was a beautiful day, I had some lunch over looking  the sea,I had spanokopita, not sure that's how you spell it !It was pretty good but not as good as the one Malcolm's wife makes.
In the afternoon i had a sorbet at Massimo,s I had a passion fruit, wow! that was lurvly.

I could have bought lots of clothes ,but they are not cheap.Some tshirts were not bad price.So i may go back.:)

John picked me up and we went to collect Lee from the golf course.
He had a good day, but had play alone because the people who he was going out with had gone out early. So home we went.
John normaly goes out with friends for a pizza on a Monday,so we went along also. Lauri,Natelie, and 3 more who i will remember in a minute.
We were not late home and the pizza was good and came with a drink for $15

Sunshine Beach The Party

The meat was in the webber, 2 lamb roast and a beef roast.The Pork was being cooked in the oven. John Cooked the Merguerz sausage on the hob.






We had a Rhubarb and apple crumble/bread and butter pudding/fresh trifle for afters.

The night just went, once everyone had arrved. Everything was cooked well and there was plenty to eat.and 17 bottles of wine consumed, not to mention the beer!
The wine in the picture was 30 years old, very nice.

Sunshine beach sat.

We were all up early to go to Eumundi Market on Sat Morning.
Lots of lovely stalls to look at, but it was getting quite warm(,the rain had stopped) I bought some quite unusual beads.I could have spent a fortune !!
Back at  Elannda st. we prepared some salsa,jams, and puddings, before we left Chris to carry on getting the house ready.
So Peter and Joan Lee and i went into Noosa. We had lunch at the surf club and the a wander down Hasting st.I had a sunshine salad, very nice.
Once we got back we all started to arrange the tables for the 25 guests that John was cooking for.

Sunshine beach Friday

All the days are blending into one,
We spent a lot of time preparing for for Johns Party.
In the afternoon Peter and Joan, friends of Johns and who Lee and I met back in 1990 came to stay for the weekend. We all went for a walk down the beach.
Later in the evening we met all Johns friends at the surf club for a meal.to celebrate  Johns Birthday. In the old days before Johnl lived at Noosa, they all used to ride upto Noosa for the weekend. Have their meal and get drunk.
Now some live there and others travel up, and then John cooks for then all.

Sunshine Beach day 1

Slept really well, and Johns house is lovely.
We all set out to do some food shopping the next day, and than once back prepared some food for his Party.
Chris and I went for along  walk,down the beach and for once it was fine. After dinner we sat and watched the girl with the dragon tattoo film.

Brisbane Day 2

The sun is still shining and having a goods night sleep,we headed off for Sunshine coast.
We called in a outlet centre on the way,just by the airport. John and Lee bought new shorts.
By the time we had arrived at Noosa the rain had caught up with us,again.
John took us round some of the Golf courses on the way,saw 4 or 5 Kangaroos on one just sitting, I GOT ABSOLUTELY WET trying to take photos.!
That was all to the first day in Noosa. The weather again !!
John cooked pasta for tea and we settled down to watch a film.  The girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Brisbane day 1

Short flight to Brisbane and yet another time change.
John and Chris were there to meet us.AND it wasent raining.

At Johns house ,we had lunch and then prepared to go to Sarahs, for the evening.
Chris had prepared a curry and birthday cake for john. So once at Sarahs the boys went out and got some takeaway veg dishes and after the twins went to bed we all sat down for a meal.

It was really nice to meet Jarvis and Lucas at last, They are just like any other kids running and shouting etc. Lucas seemed to us to do really well with his cochlear implants, sometime you couldent make out what he was trying to say,but most of the time you could.

We had a lovely meal with them,and then back to Johns for what i hoped would be my first proper nights sleep.

Townsville

With the disappointment of not diving the Yongala, we decided to go to Magnetic Island the next day, but we didn't realise it would still be raining.I think we could have still got there but there would have been nothing to do when we got there.Lee was not too well,so stayed in bed most of the afternoon.So it was a case of spending some money on going on the Internet for me.

What a night !
We knew it had rained heavy in the night because it kept us awake,that and the lightening and the electric going off.
However when we watched the news the next morning, apparently they had  a mini tornado pass through,somewhere close to the airport.
 we were ready to leave.( disappointed but ready)

2nd day in Townsville

Well it is still raining, so has yet have not been out. Maybe later !!

Townsville

Good flight with Jet star to Townsville,when we arrived it had just stopped raining.So we thought it was safe to go out,  how wrong can yer be.
Went to contact the dive centre, the dives on the Yongala are cancelled, there was only me booked on!!
maybe the weather had something to do with it. They did try and find me an alternative but it would have been a 4hr round trip to get to the boat,and in this weather who knows if the dives would have been cancelled there too
So we set off to walk back to hotel. The rain just didn't stop, and as yet still hasn't.It was so bad in the night it woke us up.
Trying to make something of a bad day,we went for a walk in the rain, by then we couldn't get no wetter.

Sydney

Hotel was ok and close to airport.
We walked to the train station and went into the city. Headed for the bridge and opera house,down Pitt street.
We were so tired but you have to try and stay awake. Had dinner over looking the harbour. then waked back to catch the train back to walli creek.
bed at 7.15 !!

Taipei Airport

1st leg of journey done.
Had a briliant trip from Heathrow,12 hours or so but plane had only 50-60 on board so we had choice of seats, so had 4 seats to sleep on, then window seat as we landed. So were able to get plenty of sleep. Dont know how they can fly with so little people on board.!

Long wait now for the flight to sydney.
